Adivasis / Warlis – Dahanu

The trible people of Dahanu are called Warlies / Adivasis. They are original settler of the Dahanu. Their houses are made Mud and the walls are covered with a paste of red mud and cow-dung. The flooring too is made of the same mixture. For the roof they use leaves of coconut tree.

Warlis live in the interiors of the Dahanu Rd. They are the King of the Jungle in other words Warlis.

They celebrate the first Monsoon with plenty of joy and happiness. The festival of 'Koli-bhaji' celebrates the successful completion of sowing operations.

Marriage is the most important ceremony in their community. The Warli marriage lasts for four or five days and many minor rites are scrupulously performed. Marriage is a contract in as much as there is an agreement in the form of consideration in the form of a bride price.

This people are very hard working and enjoy the life the live.

Warlis are also famous for their art. The Warlis are known for their paintings and decorative instincts. The paintings of warlis show there life, their rituals and customs. The painting also shows the civilizations of their surroundings.

Warli painting is traditionally painted in white, on a brown surface; these paintings have great demand internationally... Some of the most common features found in the Warli paintings are trees, peacocks, other birds and animals.
